Project case study
Become the hero of a travel cartoon
A photo zone that makes a cartoon: the visitor strikes a few poses, and their cut-out figure is animated into a comic about one of nine regions of the Far East.

The challenge
The tourism stand needed a photo zone that tells about the regions instead of just taking pictures — and gives people something they will actually share.
What Awake! delivered
The visitor chooses a region on the screen and stands in front of a Kinect. The depth camera cuts the silhouette out of the background without a green screen, and the person is “photographed” in several poses with a camera flash. The shots, with a white outline and animation, are inserted into an animated comic about the chosen region, and a QR code appears at the end to download the finished video.
Outcome
The application ran on site at a steady 50 frames per second, and the client approved the illustrated outline style. The format became the basis for the tourism photo zone of the following year.
